Funded Irrigation for Cricket Club Pitches

Love cricket? Wish your local club had better grass? Check out our recent job installing #irrigation for Woodford Green Cricket Club. The new #irrigationsystem was funded with assistance from the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB). Various opportunities were available to help combat climate change, or improve inclusivity and diversity in the sport. For example, affiliated local clubs offering cricketing opportunities for younger people, girls and women, and people from low income backgrounds were eligible to apply for financial assistance to improve the pitch.  You might say that funded irrigation for cricket club pitches is one way to level the playing field!

Irrigation designed for your location and purpose

We created a tailored #irrigationsystem designed specifically for this type of use. Pop-ups stay flush with the ground when the system isn’t in use. This ensures there are no tripping hazards or problems with mowing the grass. Using long-throw sprinkler heads means that each pop-up sends water 23 metres from the pop-up, rather than the usual 12-metre range. With a cricket square 20 metres long, we therefore achieved full coverage with each pop-up. We positioned one at each corner so that the whole square gets even coverage. Hopefully Woodford Green will soon have perfect grass!

ECB Funding

If you’re interested in finding out more, head to the England and Wales Cricket Board website to read about ECB Funding Opportunities. We understand that applications are currently closed due to all available funding being allocated for the time being. However, the ECB website has details and applications will no doubt open again at some point.

They also offer an interest-free loan scheme, so it may be that irrigation for you local pitch is still affordable right now. Get in touch with Rosewood on 01727 811448 or fill in our Contact form and we can answer any questions you might have.
